Good oral health is more than just avoiding cavities!
Having good oral health habits keeps your teeth looking bright and lowers your risk of developing cavities, tooth loss, and gum disease. That’s why it’s important to visit a dentist two times a year. Meridian members receive two free oral exams and teeth cleanings per year.
Your dentist can find and treat problems early—before painful and costly treatments are needed.
Between visits be sure to:
- Brush your teeth and your child’s teeth two times a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste
- Replace your toothbrush every three months and after you’ve been sick
- For infants without teeth, clean their gums with water and a soft cloth. Good habits start early!
- Floss once a day to remove particles that your toothbrush misses.
- Eat a well-balanced diet. Avoid sugary foods and drinks as much as possible.
- Avoid all forms of tobacco.
Did you know that plaque on your teeth can lead to more serious diseases like heart disease, diabetes, pneumonia, and pregnancy complications?
Contact your dentist right away if you have problems in your mouth like pain, swelling, or bleeding.
