System Issue Impacting Claims Denied with Reason Code EXWT

Meridian has identified a system issue impacting claims denied with reason code EXWT- Waiver must bill with Medicaid number not NPI. Although the Medicaid ID was correctly entered in Box 33b, the Meridian Portal did not populate this information into Box 33b, causing the Medicaid ID to be dropped during claim generation and resulting in claim denials. Meridian is updating the system to correct this issue. Once the update is complete, all affected claims will be reprocessed automatically. No action is required from providers at this time.
