Billing Requirements for Observation Services

We would like to remind Meridian Medicaid Plan and YouthCare HealthChoice providers of the requirements for billing observation services.
HFS guidelines require General Acute Care Hospitals enrolled in IMPACT with category of service 24 to bill observation services with two service lines of Revenue Code 0762 along with the associated CPT®/HCPCS codes outlined below.

Claims billed without two service lines or without supporting CPT®/HCPCS codes not listed above will deny EX0Y – Observation 0762 Rules not followed for IL Medicaid.
