Updated HFS guidance for ABRYSVO during Respiratory Syncytial Viral Season
Date: 11/24/25
Effective November 20, 2025, Abrysvo is available via medical and pharmacy billing without a prior authorization or submission of additional documentation of weeks of gestation for individuals 19 years of age and older. Pregnant members under the age of 19 are eligible to receive Abrysvo through a Vaccines for Children (VFC) provider.
Additional documentation of informed consent beyond the standard methods used for vaccinations is no longer required.
Medical providers and pharmacists continue to be responsible for verifying vaccine eligibility, including weeks of gestation for pregnant individuals, and ensuring informed consent.
The Illinois Department of Public Health made the following recommendations in September 2025 regarding RSV vaccination for individuals who have not been previously vaccinated, which align with current CDC recommendations:
- All pregnant people during weeks 32 through 36 of pregnancy
- Adults aged 50 through 74 years at increased risk of severe RSV disease
- All adults ages 75 years and older
Please refer to the HFS provider notice for details.
